Industry Involvement at High School is Critical
Harding University High School construction students were fortunate to have John Ashworth from Wayne Brothers, Inc. and Tristan Gray from Batson-Cook Construction work with them to honor National Career Development Month.
John from Wayne Brothers instructed the students on how to build formwork structures. They built a foundation mock wall including the erection process and installing walers and turnbuckles. The students were allowed to build bulkheads and understand formwork pressure, concrete pour rates and concrete reinforcement.
Tristan worked with the students on understanding how blueprints are put together. They learned drawing types, scale and the interrelationship between drawings and how project information is conveyed via construction documents.
