During the 2019 Annual CAGC Convention held earlier this year in Charleston, SC at Belmond Charleston Place, Build Your Career held a live auction fundraiser where our member firms were able to place bids in an attempt to win CAGC President and CEO, Dave Simpson, working on their jobsites for a day.  Each winning bid also included heavy marketing and PR to promote and cover each event.  Dave will lace up his steel toe boots and sport all the proper PPE gear on June 5th, 2019 as he works onsite a few hours for Sam Young of Young & McQueen Grading Company and on June 21st, 2019 as he works an entire day for Keith Wayne of Wayne Brothers.

Sam Young, President of Young & McQueen Grading Company, Inc., placed a winning bid to include Dave spending a few hours on one of their jobsites in the Asheville, NC area on June 5th, 2019.  The agenda for the day includes Dave receiving some training followed by Dave putting his new skillset to the test on the jobsite with tools in hand!  Also planned for the day are a few interviews between Dave and Sam Young, as well as a few of the Young & McQueen employees, all complete with lots of video footage and photo opps to showcase the day’s events.

Keith Wayne, President and CEO of Wayne Brothers in Davidson, NC, was the winning bidder of the “Whole 9 Yards” package auctioned off at our Convention which includes Dave working an entire day on one of their jobsites on June 21st, 2019!  This package also includes Wayne Brothers being named as the official Corporate sponsor for the new BYC marketing/rebranding campaign and one free registration to the CAGC Summer Summit and Expo being held in July at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC. Wayne Brothers employees will also be featured in the new BYC promotional video—a marketing piece designed to target younger students and attract them to our industry, while also debunking negative societal myths associated with the construction and trade industry.

Our fearless leader, Dave Simpson, has a jam-packed day scheduled out at Wayne Brothers next month.  The day’s activities include video interviews between Keith Wayne and Dave and a few of the Wayne Brothers employees, Dave receiving some training in a “mini bootcamp-style” onboarding at a few different stations, where he will then move over to “task” stations where he will be challenged to showcase all the new skills he learned from the Wayne Brothers training team!

Full articles covering each of Dave Simpson’s upcoming site work days in June will be featured in next month’s BYC “Workforce Windup” newsletter so stay tuned for all the details—you won’t want to miss out on reading about Dave’s days of “hard manual labor”, complete will video and lots of photographic evidence!
