Congrats to the BYC Raffle Trip to Mexico Winner, Ben Bishop of Sloan Construction!

Congrats to the BYC Trip to Mexico Raffle Winner, Ben Bishop of Sloan Construction!

Build Your Career held a fundraiser raffle at the 2019 Summer Summit where our attendees had the opportunity to purchase tickets to enter a raffle drawing for a chance to win a fabulous all-inclusive vacation package for two.  Up for grabs in the BYC fundraiser raffle as the prize was a fabulous 7-night, 8-day trip for 2 adults to the Sunset World Resorts Hacienda Tres Rios, a luxury 5-star resort and spa, located in the heart of Riviera Maya, Mexico at Playa del Carmen.  A round of golf, a spa package, and all food, beverage, alcohol and airfare for 2 was included in this awesome prize package.  A hearty congratulations goes out to Sloan Construction’s Ben Bishop for being the lucky winner!

Our prize winners, Ben Bishop and his wife Kelcie, were beyond excited to learn their ticket was drawn as the winner.  Ben stated, “My wife is ecstatic about winning and can’t wait to take this vacation.  But I think what she’s happiest about is forcing me to finally take a vacation too!”  The Hacienda Tres Rios Resort & Spa features several unique onsite entertainment options such as kayaking tours through one of three rivers flowing through the adjacent nature park, scuba diving and snorkeling, sunset dinner cruises, children’s activities, private dining and much more.  The Bishops' will no doubt have limitless options for keeping themselves entertained while enjoying their amazing vacation package, but let’s hope they make room in their busy schedules to factor in a little rest and relaxation time too!

The BYC Mexico vacay package given away as our raffle prize was sponsored by The Insight Group, a newly formed geotechnical, environmental and materials testing firm based in Charleston, SC and one of the newest additions to the ever-growing CAGC family of members.  Insight Group has already been extremely active in CAGC events since recently joining Carolinas AGC just over a week ago—participating in the BYC-REEMERGE prison reintegration re-entry career fair, sponsoring the BYC raffle fundraiser and even attending our recent Summer Summit Expo in Asheville, NC.  Matt Silveston, P.E. and Partner at Insight commented on why their company wanted to become so heavily involved with CAGC and the BYC workforce development efforts by stating, “The partners at Insight Group immediately seized upon the opportunity that supporting Build Your Career presented.  Sponsoring the raffle was a great way to support the cause and provide an opportunity for BYC to raise funds to benefit programs they’ve designed to help our industry recruit new talent.”

The BYC raffle was a huge hit with our 2019 Summit attendees and sparked a lot of competition amongst our member firms as several challenges were initiated to see who’s company could purchase the most tickets!  In total, the raffle drew in 68 entrants who collectively purchased 114 tickets which generated, along with a few direct donations, an additional $12,600 in funds to benefit the BYC program.

On behalf of Carolinas AGC, its Foundation and Build Your Career, we would like to offer a sincere thank you to our raffle prize sponsor Insight Group and also to everyone who purchased a raffle ticket during our Summit to help support BYC.  Additionally, a huge shout out and mega thanks is extended to Lori Hardaway, BYC Ambassador extraordinaire and Territory Manager at HardHat Workforce Solutions in Columbia, SC, for volunteering to help sell raffle tickets to our attendees during the Summit.  Lori’s boundless energy and tireless efforts helped sell an additional 30+ tickets, generating over $3,000 in revenue for BYC!  Again, thank you to everyone who participated in the BYC raffle and congratulations to our lucky winner, Ben Bishop of Sloan Construction!
