byc spotlight series contract construction
BYC Workforce Windup May, 2019 “Spotlight Series” (Contract Construction)
This month’s BYC “Spotlight Series” shines on Contract Construction, Carolinas AGC members since 1994. Contract was founded in Ballentine, SC in 1984 and provides construction services throughout the state, with offices in the Midlands, Upstate and Lowcountry areas in South Carolina. Since it was founded, Contract has been deeply involved in countless community-based outreach initiatives geared toward promoting construction career awareness to local middle and high school students. From being active Build Your Career Ambassadors to coordinating multiple field study trips for SC Construction Building Technology students annually as well as partnering with numerous South Carolina K-12 schools across the state, Contract Construction is a shining example of how our CAGC members are giving back to the industry that has given so much to them!
Contract Construction is heavily involved with the “Building Berkeley” initiative, being awarded the Berkeley County School District’s prestigious “Legacy Builder” award in August, 2016. Contract also offers several internship and apprenticeship positions to students and displaced workers interested in pursuing construction careers from the beginner level.
Meghan’s primary focus in the company is building relationships with new and existing Contract Construction clients in addition to workforce development for the construction industry. She also dedicates a significant amount of her time working with school districts and CTE Directors to build numerous student internship programs with their company. Meghan’s strong background deeply rooted in the educational sector, her vast knowledge of the CTE System and her ability to quickly identify the current and future workforce development needs of the industry make her an excellent addition to the team.
Build Your Career is proud to feature Contract Construction as this month’s “Spotlight Series” CAGC member because of their continued dedication to advancing the education and career opportunities of the students that attend school in the districts they serve. Contract offers many internship, apprenticeship and on-the-job training programs all designed to help students and various displaced workers connect with a career in the construction industry that fits their personality and lifestyle. Contract Construction is also heavily involved with the “Building Berkeley” initiative, being awarded the Berkeley County School District’s prestigious “Legacy Builder” award in August, 2016.
From being the innovators behind the City of Columbia’s first “green” government building to sponsoring Career Days and Festivals at various South Carolina schools, as well as hiring dozens of local high school students to work on many of their school construction project sites, Contract Construction truly goes above and beyond in promoting construction career awareness on behalf of our industry. In addition to the many charitable organizations and events Contract is involved with, the company has also appointed several of their employees to serve as CAGC Build Your Career Ambassadors to further expand their outreach efforts in direct partnership with BYC workforce development programs.
Carolinas AGC, the CAGC Foundation and its and Build Your Career workforce development initiative salute Contract Construction for their unwavering efforts to help us put an end to the labor shortage crisis in the construction industry! Through educational partnerships and outreach efforts designed to promote construction career awareness to future generations of workers, our Carolinas AGC member firms truly continue to set the gold standard in our industry for what it takes to sustain it for many years to come.
